13 December 2011 | Saint Nick Yorkshire Turnaround Awards 2011

Saint Nick

Last night Endless held its sixth Yorkshire Saint Nick Awards. The purpose of the Saint Nick Awards is to recognize the excellent work carried out by professionals in the turnaround and restructuring community in Yorkshire, as well as raising money for local charities. Since launching in 2006, the St Nick Awards have raised over £55,000 for charity. It is expected that last night’s event will raise up to £10,000 for The Turnaround Foundation, which is this year supporting the Create Foundation and Lineham Farm.

Two of the big awards of the evening were the Accountant of the Year, won by Howard Smith of KPMG, and the Living Legend which went to Roger Marsh of PwC. Garry Wilson of Endless commented "There was a huge amount of support for both Howard and Roger, two very popular guys that have done a lot for the restructuring community in Leeds."

White Young Green won the coveted Turnaround of the Year Award, voted for on the night, and the award was collected by Steve Ellis (PwC), Martin Barron (Deloitte) and Peter Cranston (Eversheds). Darren Forshaw, Partner at Endless, commented “WYG was the runaway winner on the night. It was a highly complex rescue restructuring of a local plc and demonstrates the strength in depth of the Yorkshire restructuring community.”  Martin Barron had earlier been on stage to collect the Big Firm Accountant of the Year Award on behalf of the Deloitte team.

The event was once again held at Aspire and was attended by 400 of the professional community in Leeds.
