Karro Food Group has secured a contract to stock its Cookstown sausage in 16 Asda stores across Northern Ireland.

The contract builds on the company's existing relationship with the supermarket giant, with the retailer already listing an extensive range of Cookstown sausages, bacon, cooked meats, gammon and sausage rolls.

Michael McCallion, Asda senior buying manager for Northern Ireland and Scotland, said: "We are committed to supporting local suppliers and Cookstown is a great example of a brand that continues to innovate in line with market trends to develop quality local products.

"The Cookstown brand has always been very popular with Asda shoppers and the launch of the new sausage will provide a choice for those consumers who are looking for a healthier local option in the category."

Trevor Mounstephen, Cookstown account manager, added: "Cookstown has traded with Asda since the first stores opened in Northern Ireland in 2005 and our business has grown significantly over the years.

"Our ongoing relationship with Asda is great for our business and provides a marketplace for our locally sourced pork. It is very important for pig farmers in Northern Ireland that consumers can purchase local brands such as Cookstown in stores."
